Ellis George LLP is pleased to announce that trial lawyer Chris Arledge is joining the firm as its newest partner.
For more than twenty years, Arledge has been trying complex business cases with a particular emphasis on intellectual property disputes. Arledge has had success on both sides, earning multimillion-dollar verdicts for plaintiffs and defense verdicts for defendants in patent, trademark, trade-secret, tort, and breach-of-contract cases.
Arledge’s trial work has been praised by judges, with one federal judge describing Arledge’s closing argument as “one of the best closing arguments [he has] seen in 40 years” and a California Superior Court judge observing that Arledge’s “cross examination of the plaintiff was the most riveting examination [he’s] seen in any trial … exquisite work.”
Arledge is the co-author of To Prove, To Please, To Move: Timeless Principles of Legal Advocacy, and is in demand as a teacher of trial advocacy and deposition skills in both the United States and Europe. He has taught around the country for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, and is on the faculty for the Advanced Advocacy Course for Barristers in Dublin, Ireland and for the Advanced International Advocacy Course at Oxford University in England. Arledge has also co-founded the advocacy-training organization Cicero’s Forum and has taught trial advocacy and persuasion at many of the largest, most-prestigious law firms in the country, including, among others, Gibson Dunn, Munger Tolles, Jones Day, and O’Melveny. He has also taught The Art of Persuasion for Lawyers and Taking and Defending Depositions at Chapman University Law School.
Arledge graduated from law school at the University of Southern California, clerked for Charles Wiggins on the Ninth Circuit, worked as an associate at O’Melveny & Myers, and co-founded and managed the intellectual property boutique One LLP before joining Ellis George.
“I have known Ellis George for many years and have seen the high quality of Ellis George’s practice first-hand as a litigation adversary. I’m thrilled to join what I believe is the best trial boutique in Southern California,” said Arledge.
According to Ellis George’s managing partner, Keith Wesley, “Chris is one of the finest trial lawyers I have witnessed. Since seeing him in action in a jury trial years ago, I always thought he’d be a perfect fit in our firm. I know that the firm and its clients will benefit from Chris’ trial and advocacy skills for years to come.”
Chris will be based in Ellis Georges’s Century City office. He can be reached by phone at (310) 274-7100 or email at carledge@ellisgeorge.com.
