Joachim B. Steinberg, a Ellis George associate based in San Francisco and New York, has published an article in New Matter, the official publication of the Intellectual Property Law Section of California Lawyers Association. The article, titled “Campaigns and Copyrights: The Use and Misuse of Music by Politicians,” analyzes legal options for musicians when politicians use their music at campaign rallies. The article covers the history of copyright collectives, moral rights in copyrights in Europe, and surveys options for musicians who want to stop politicians from campaigning on their music. The article also includes a self-study MCLE for California attorneys and is available through the California Lawyers Association website: https://calawyers.org/publications/intellectual-property-law/new-matter-spring-2021-volume-46-number-1-letter-from-the-editor-in-chief/
