LOS ANGELES, January 2, 2025 – It is with great sadness that we share the recent passing of Partner Guy C. Nicholson.
“The outpouring of tears and love confirms what we all know – that we were privileged to have Guy in our lives,” read a joint statement released by the firm’s leaders, Partners Dennis S. Ellis, Eric M. George, and Keith J. Wesley. “Even with those who recently joined our firm, Guy shared freely his insights, kindness, sincerity, and good humor.”
Nicholson, a commercial litigator and appellate lawyer, focused his practice on complex commercial ligation matters, bank regulatory litigation, and appeals throughout his legal career spanning several decades. In addition to his law practice, Nicholson served as a Judge Pro Tem, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Law with Pepperdine University School of Law.
“As painful as this news is to bear, [we] take some consolation in knowing that among life’s great aims, Guy achieved these, no doubt among many others: a beautiful marriage with the person he loved best and deep professional fulfillment through his friendships with – and battles fought alongside – his colleagues,” the partners’ statement continued.
Some of Nicholson’s notable legal achievements include securing defense judgments in multi-million dollar claims and winning several judgments exceeding $1 million on behalf of his clients.
Nicholson graduated summa cum laude from California State University, Northridge in 1978 and went on to earn his J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1982. Prior to Ellis George, Nicholson was a partner at another Los Angeles-based firm and then co-founded his own firm, Tisdale & Nicholson LLP.
