Ellis George secured a victory in July on behalf of the firm’s clients, Fox News Network and a variety of its on-air talent, after the Third Circuit affirmed a district court’s dismissal of a defamation lawsuit filed by Michael Avenatti seeking $250 million in damages.
Avenatti had sued in Delaware Superior Court. The matter was removed to federal court and then dismissed on the merits. Avenatti appealed the decision that maintained the suit in federal court, and the Third Circuit issued a precedential opinion that found in favor of the firm’s clients.
Eric George argued the Third Circuit appeal and was joined by Katherine Petti, with Katherine Murray, Serli Polatoglu, and Stefan Bogdanovich also all assisting on briefing both at the Third Circuit and before the district court.
