Ellis George LLP represented Best Friends Animal Society in a challenge to restrictions a Los Angeles shopping mall had placed on the organization’s ability to protest a pet store. The mall had restricted Best Friends Animal Society to a remote area of the mall that was far from the store in question. The trial court denied Best Friends Annual Society’s request for an injunction. On appeal, the California Court of Appeal reversed, and ruled that “A shopping mall must allow protests within aural and visual range of a targeted business whenever the mall is open to the public.” Best Friends Animal Society v. Macerich Westside Pavilion Property LLC (2011) 193 Cal. App.4th 168. Eric George and Ira Bibbero represented Best Friends Animal Society.
