Jeffrey A. Mitchell is a Partner in the Ellis George LLP New York office. He is an experienced trial lawyer and commercial litigator who solves problems. Over a more than 40 year legal career, Jeff has represented many well-known international companies in the jewelry, fashion, financial services, online and real estate industries. He has also successfully handled high profile disputes for famous entrepreneurs and public figures. Jeff knows when to fight, when to negotiate, and how to get matters resolved, even if that means winning at trial or on appeal. Well-known in New York for his creativity and aggressive style, and for getting results, Jeff’s clients are glad he is on their side.
Before joining the firm Jeff was a partner with Dickstein Shapiro in the New York office. He has also been the co-head of a 40-person litigation department at a New York firm and managed his own firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the 1980s.

- Colfin JIH Funding v. Gramercy Warehouse Funding I – cleared way for senior mezzanine lender to foreclose on defaulted $295-million loan structure secured by Jameson Hotel chain
- WebMD Health Corp. v. Everest Reinsurance Company – successful recovery of multimillion dollar insurance claim for stop-loss coverage on health plan
- American Property Consultants, Ltd. vs. Kriozere – obtained summary judgment for over $6 million advisory fee against a developer of One Rincon Place, a $300 million San Francisco condominium project
- Finkelstein v. Mardkha – successfully defended inventorship of diamond patent licensed to Tiffany & Co. as centerpiece of Tiffany’s “Legacy” jewelry collection
- American Property Consultants, Ltd. vs. Zamias – obtained over $10 million jury verdict for financial advisory fees against a national shopping center operator
- Beautiful Jewellers (Private) Limited vs. Tiffany & Co. – obtained summary judgment dismissing $13 million wrongful termination suit brought by jewelry distributor in India
